Access-control cards

Access-control cards

Credentials for everything that is not a guest room: staff doors, lifts, gates, plant rooms and back-of-house zones. The specification is driven entirely by the system already on the wall, which is why this page describes a confirmation process rather than a chip menu.

What we confirm before production

Confirmed against the installed system before production.

This is the product where confirmation matters most. We identify the installed system and the credential currently in use, confirm operating frequency, technology, memory and security level, and confirm the encoding scheme the system expects. Where a system is proprietary or closed and we cannot meet it, we say so before you order rather than after a run is produced.

Available materials

Access cards are handled far more than guest cards and usually live on a lanyard. PVC is standard; a thicker clamshell body is available where the credential has to survive a construction or kitchen environment.

Buyer guidance

Specify staff and access cards by role

Staff, contractor and back-of-house credentials need a clearer operating brief than “RFID card”. Record which readers they must operate, who encodes them, whether identifiers are printed, how batches are separated and how lost cards are retired. Compatibility is confirmed against evidence from the installed system.

Frequently asked

Access-control cards

We do not know what system we have. Can you still quote?

Usually. A photograph of the reader and of the back of an existing card is often enough to identify the technology. Where it is not, a card can be sent to us for reading. We will not guess.

Can you match cards to a system installed years ago?

Often, but not always. Older low-frequency estates are usually straightforward; closed or proprietary schemes may not be reproducible at all. That answer comes at confirmation stage, before any order.

Can one card open guest rooms and staff doors?

That is a function of your access-control system, not of the card. If the system supports both on one credential, the card can be encoded for it. We will tell you what we can confirm and what has to be tested on site.

How do we retire a credential when someone leaves?

In the access system, not in the card. What we contribute is a numbering block structure that makes the card traceable to a batch and a person, so the retirement is auditable.

Tell us the project and we return a technical recommendation.

A short brief is enough to specify the card, confirm what has to be verified against your installed system, and price the run.
